Jesse James: TV star blasts into the record books

Jesse James is a well-known television personality in America. And here in Europe, we already know him from his show 'Monster Garage'. In his new series, 'Jesse James Is A Dead Man', he put himself behind the wheel of an eco-friendly hydrogen-powered land speed racer and promptly managed to set a new world record with a speed of 199.7 mph (319.52 km/h). This will, of course, feature on his show. This record-breaking run took place on 17th June 2009, on the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in the Mojave Desert (California). BMW held the previous record of 185 mph (296 km/h).
