Diamonds might be a girl's best friend but a £140,000 supercar might just come close as one footballing WAG has just found out.
Melanie Slade, the long-term girlfriend of Theo Walcott, has just been presented with a brand spanking new Ferrari California by the Arsenal striker to celebrate her 21st birthday.
According to The Sun, the physiotherapist student is 'over the moon' and has already got personalised plates for the car.
It's a bit of a step up from the Volkswagen Beetle he bought her three years ago and the insurance premiums for the Ferrari are probably more than the Beetle was worth, but with a 193mph top speed we imagine Mel will find the upgrade more than makes up for the cost.

Shows to me that that football players are well overpaid.
Most of us would have to work for 6 years to earn that amount of money. And to save it for a car would take a life time.
Sorry Theo you are one of the many over paid people in this country, true love doesnt need £140.000 presents.

I totally agree with every word you have said!

Total madness, someone of that age should not be allowed to own a car with such power, no wonder there are so many accidents on the road.
There will be no football clubs left soon if they keep paying these insane wages out !

I don't know where you live but the nearest dental hospital will always help in an emergency.

Good on him I say. I'd love to buy my partner a brand new Ferrari as much as im sure she would love one also.
He has worked hard to get where he is the commitent he would have shown as a teenager. Yes I agree that Footballers in general get paid a ludicrous amount of money but they get paid that amount of money as we the general public spend all our hard earned money on watching football, wearing the kits & buying the merchandise they get a small percentage of the money the club generates which is the same in any business and football is now a business.
Happy Birthday Melanie & Nice one Theo.

Let us all stop being jealous. We would not refuse his pay packet if offered to us. He has the right to spend his money how he wishes, as we all do.

its amazing what that triangular piece of hair does to a man!!

Obscene! What does a 21 yo want with a ferrari? Never mind the price, how long before she wraps it around a lamp post, hopefully the only party involved. Most 21 yo's cannot even afford a home of their own. And as for footballers wages, don't get me started on that subject. Overpaid, cheating tossers is the only compliment I can make.........

I agree it is obscene!!

She's still just a student!! Lucky thing.
But as the other said, people can spend their money however they like, and this country is too full of jealousy as it is. And jealousy is such a wasted emotion, people. . .just wish them well and be on your way. . .

What is a physiotherapist student? She's either a physiotherapist or a student. Maybe it really means she's a PHYSIOTHERAPY student?
