Jenson Button is the most polluting celebrity motorist in Britain according to a list compiled by the City Car Club.

The Formula 1 world champion has an average CO2 emission of 383.1g/km per vehicle thanks to his fleet of 11 cars, among which is a 250mph Bugatti Veyron putting out a massive 547g/km CO2, an Audi RS6 Avant - 333g/km, Ferrari 360 - 440g/km and Porsche Carrera GT - 437g/km.

Second on the list is renowned petrolhead and Jamiroquai front-man Jay Kay whose cars are said to include a Lamborghini SV and Bentley SI Continental. His average CO2 emissions are 379.3g/km.

These emissions are over three times the average CO2 output for most motorists. The highest selling Ford Fiesta emits just 127g/km – owning four of these would still produce fewer emissions than the Bugatti.
