This summer's Silverstone Classic event on 20-22 July will play host to the UK's first Z-Fest, a celebration of BMW Z-models through the years.
Organised by the official BMW Car Club GB as part of its 60th birthday celebrations, the show will see hundreds of BMW Z1, Z3, Z4 and Z8 sportscars on display. A special parade lap will also mark the occasion around the Silverstone circuit in front of thousands of fans.
Steve Miller, general manager of the BMW Car Club expects to see at least 500 Z-cars at the event: "We wanted to do something spectacular to mark our anniversary and staging the UK's first Z-Fest at the world's biggest classic racing festival certainly fits that bill.
"A number of hugely successful Z-Fests have been held on the continent and in The States – now it's our turn," he said.
The BMW Z model range started with the 1986 Z1 roadster, famous for its unique doors. Only 8,000 were produced, making it the rarest in the range.
The Z3 featured in James Bond film 'Goldeneye', while the later hand-built Z8 supercar also played a part in 'The World Is Not Enough'.
