Preview IAA Frankfurt: Maserati Gran Cabrio

The new Maserati Gran Cabrio makes its debut at the IAA in Frankfurt. This open-top beauty has a fabric roof and seats four. Pininfarina is responsible for the design of the new cabriolet, including the gaping mouth of a grille, the high wheel arches and the aggressive-looking headlamps. This sporty number is propelled by a 440bhp V8 naturally aspirated engine. The price for such driving pleasure has not yet been fixed but is expected to be over 130,000 euros.

RM Auctions: Sale of superlatives

The annual RM auction takes place on 17th May at Maranello in Italy. The 2009 RM catalogue contains a host of award-winning classic cars, including many legends from the race track which have brought in record advance bids. One particular highlight of this year's RM auction is a 1967 Ferrari 330 P4. The auctioneers will only disclose the reserve price on this iconic Ferrari by special request. As the P4 is in approximately the same league as a 250 GT0, the final price is expected to be very high.

There are, of course, other attractive lots such as the 'pontoon-fender' 250 Testa Rossa built in 1957, which is estimated to be worth at least seven million euros. There are actually two 250 GT California Spyders listed in the catalogue this time. A total of 37 fantastic vehicles are set to go under the hammer.

Miss Maserati 2009

It's enough to make your eyes pop out. Fast cars and gorgeous women are the stuff of dreams – at least for us chaps. But now we can enjoy the sight of both in our waking hours. On this photo, we see the new Maserati Quattroporte S together with Tatana Kucharova who won the 2006 Miss World competition. There were already quite enough valid reasons for purchasing this beautiful Maserati – but now we have one more.

Maserati Quattroporte

The Quattroporte S already came in for some admiring glances at the Paris Autosalon. Now it has made its North American debut in Los Angeles.

The most immediately apparent change is the grille which seeks to emulate the venetian blind design of the GranTurismo. There have also been a few updates for the lights, with LEDs front and rear. For the cockpit, there is a new central console and a new Maserati multimedia system plus navigation.

The Quattroporte S is powered by a 4.7-litre V8 engine packing 430bhp and has six-gear automatic transmission.
